Abstract
Rodna jednakost u Republici Hrvatskoj osigurana je mnogobrojnim zakonima, ali i međunarodnim konvencijama te europskim smjernicama koje su implementirane u zemljama članicama Europske unije. Međunarodne organizacije, poput UN-a nastoje svojim deklaracijama, ugovorima i rezolucijama postići ravnopravnost spolova još od polovice 20. stoljeća, a isto vrijedi i za države članice Vijeća Europe i Europske unije. Nejednakost u primanjima, napose u plaćama i mirovinama prisutna je u Republici Hrvatskoj, ali i unutar Europske unije. Iako postoji obveza poštivanja načela rodnog pariteta na svim izborima na državnoj i lokalnoj razini, političke stranke djelomice poštuju zakonski okvir u tom pogledu. Usprkros sve većem stupnju obrazovanja, žene su i dalje podzastupljene na rukovodećim pozicijama. Postizanje potpune rodne jednakosti u 21. stoljeću, unatoč svim naporima državnih institucija, i dalje predstavlja veliki izazov za većinu europskih i svjetskih zemalja.
Abstract (english)
Gender equality in the Republic of Croatia is ensured by numerous laws, but also by international conventions and European guidelines that have been implemented in the member states of the European Union. International organizations, such as the UN, have been striving for gender equality through their declarations, treaties and resolutions since the middle of the 20th century and the same relates to the member states of the Council of Europe and the European Union. Inequality in income, especially in salaries and pensions, is present in the Republic of Croatia, but also within the European Union. Although there is an obligation to respect the principle of gender parity in all elections at the state and local level, political parties partially respect the legal framework in this regard. Despite higher educational attainment, women are still underrepresented in management positions. Achieving full gender equality in the 21st century, despite all the efforts of state institutions, remains a major challenge for most European and other world countries.
