Abstract
Na samom početku, ovaj rad bavit će se općenito pitanjem Drugog amandmana Ustava Sjedinjenih Američkih Država koji jamči građanima pravo na držanje i nošenje oružja, kao i najvažnijim odlukama Vrhovnog suda vezanim za Drugi amandman. Rad će također obuhvatiti povijest i donošenje Ustava Sjedinjenih Američkih Država i njegovog Drugog amandmana te proučiti kako ovaj amandman utječe na američko društvo i američki način života fokusirajući se na duboku podjelu Amerikanaca na one koji Drugi amandman vide kao pravo svih građana na posjedovanje raznog oružja, i one koji se snažno ne slažu sa time. Također, rad će se baviti i vezom Drugog amandmana sa oružanim nasiljem, utjecajem medija u debati oko kontrole oružja, kao i statistikom oružanog nasilja u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama, gdje ovaj amandman postoji, i drugim državama gdje je kontrola oružja stoža.
Abstract (english)
In the very beginning of this thesis, in addition to the general issue of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, the most important Supreme Court decisions related to the Second Amendment will be addressed. The paper will also cover the history and enactment of the United States Constitution and its Second Amendment, and examine how this amendment affects American society and the American way of life by focusing on the deep division of Americans into those who see the Second Amendment as a right of all citizens to own weapons and those who strongly disagree with it. The paper will also address the Second Amendment's link to armed violence, media influence in the gun control debate, and gun violence statistics in the United States, where the amendment exists, and other countries where gun control is stricter.
