In this thesis, the emphasis is on the analysis of the armed and ideological power of the state, from its beginnings until the present day, while the regimes established after the Second World War are discussed in more detail. Therefore, the paper consists of six main chapters. The first chapter is an introduction that states the aim of this work. In the second chapter, the history and development of the state's armed power and its ideological influence are analyzed in detail through two subchapters. The third chapter deals with three sub-chapters of the two biggest world conflicts, as well as the Cold War, i.e., the development of the armed forces of states during their duration. In the fourth chapter, one subchapter deals with Stalinism, Bolshevism, Nazism and fascism, that is, the ideologies with the greatest influence in the 20th century. The second subchapter deals with communism in Yugoslavia and nationalism in the Homeland War, considering their greater and exclusive connection with the Republic of Croatia. The fifth chapter deals with ideologies that gained significant influence only at the beginning of the 21st century, and active armed conflicts in the world, with an emphasis on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. At the very end, there is a conclusion based on these analyses, followed by a list of literature, illustrations and abbreviations.
