Working through digital platforms is becoming an increasingly important part of the labor market in Croatia and Italy, bringing both challenges and opportunities. Both countries are taking regulatory measures to adapt to this new labor market reality. Croatia has implemented amendments to the Labo u r Act to regulate work via digital platforms, focusing on defining labor relations, rights and obligations and emphasizing the importance of protecting the health and privacy of workers. The legislation aims for transparency and accountability of platforms, but will likely require further adaptations following the adoption of the EU platform di rective. In Italy, the focus is on transparency, minimum wage standards and working conditions, with the key role of trade unions in organizing workers and collective bargaining. Italy strives to create an inclusive labor market and equal opportunities fo r all workers. Both countries are still exploring how to define best the legal status of workers on digital platforms and how to apply labor law standards and social protection. This reflects the general uncertainty surrounding this type of work at the European level. Working through digital platforms offers flexibility an d new forms of employment, but also creates a need for new skills and training of workers. Croatia and Italy strive to achieve a balance between encouraging innovation and the digital econ omy and ensuring fairness and safety for all workers in the new market environment.
