This final thesis is dealing with international multimodal transport with the special focus on liability of the Multimodal Transport Operator for carriage of goods. Final thesis is divided into three main thematic parts in a way that the first part consist of development and creation of multimodal transport legal sources. First, it was important to highlight the UN Convention on International Multimodal Transport of Goods that has never been implemented but still represents the most important influence on transport costumes. Also, there is a view on autonomous legal sources that deals with the challenges of multimodal transport and thus significantly and specifically contribute to unification. The second part elaborates the multimodal transport contract according to the Multimodal Convention - its essential elements, cognitive and dispositive regulations. Some issues related to this contract are: the term of the contract, the parties, the subject, price of multimodal transaction, ways of conclusion, modification and termination of the contract and multimodal transport documents issued as a proof of multimodal transport contract. The final part of the paper is analyzing the liability of the Multimodal Transport Operator. Finally, it is concluded that the conditions of the modern international trade and transportation seek for one and unique contractual relationship based on a multimodal transport contract, despite the fact that the carriage is performed in two or more modes of transport, and regardless of the number of the carrier who actually performs the carriage.
